I always say to people who are confused about tension, think about a trampoline... the looser the the higher you'll go. So, the less in case of a tennis racquet ... is more. The tighter the tension less power ... more control.

Check the recommended tension for your racquet (should be printed on the frame somewhere). Tighter strings work for harder hitters, giving them control. Lower tension give the ball more spring off the racquet for more power. For power, string in the lower half of the recommended range for your frame.

It depends on how fast you swing. String stiffness will decrease with use, giving more powerfull rebound off the racquet. You will have to compensate with a slower swing speed to keep the ball in the court.

The looser your strings, the harder you can hit.
