Yes. And there are too many reasons to list. But a few of them are.....free medical care, free education, and no taxes for illegal aliens; welfare for deadbeats; and years and years of handouts to other countries who never paid us back. Too many people use the war in Iraq as a reason, but that comes out of the defense funds which were already there.

It is projected by the GAO that the public debt will reach 9 trillion dollars by 2010, but no one is concerned because we now have all that Iraqi oil that is gonna pay for the war, and George Bush has a secret plan to rebuild Iraq with FEMA trailers that those LA. people don't need. Since the real estate market is drowning in the U.S., George is going to invade better countries, so we can move somewhere nice like the Marianna Islands, where the Republicans can keep out the minimum wage. Anybody for a grass shack?

Well, what do you expect: Bush has not helped this country in any way, shape or form, and the national debt is just a small part of the problem.

And do you know who we owe the most money to...?

Japan, China, Taiwan, and South Korea hold 40% of our government debt. (That's why we talk nice to them.) "By helping keep mortgage rates from rising, China has come to play an enormous and little-noticed role in sustaining the American housing boom" (NYT, Dec. 4, 2004). Read that twice. We owe our housing boom to China, because they want us to keep buying all that stuff they manufacture.

Yes I do know that. I also know that people will take one look at that figure and move on to the next question, because they generally cannot fathom that number. . .nor do they feel that they have any control as to were that number goes.
