Don't worry about it. Enjoy the sunshine! After all, there are very few perfect bodies out there on the sand. That being said, here are a couple of tips for buying a flattering swimsuit for your body type:
1. First and foremost, make sure it fits properly. Shop at a store that offers separate top and bottom sizes and make sure that you measure yourself and compare it against the store's size chart.
2. For a bottom heavy, top light figure, make sure that you wear a substantial top to balance things out. A nice halter style with a glitzy trim piece, or ruffles in the front will add more visual interest just where you want it.
3. Stay away from, "Boy Shorts," and tiny string bikini bottoms. Niether style is very complimentary to a large bum. Stick with a moderate coverage bottom.
4. One super hot trend right now is to mix and match the tops and bottoms of different swimsuits. A dark, solid, bikini bottom with a bright, printed top is great way to disguise full hips and bring the eye upward.
5. Buy quality. Don't settle for a cheapy swimsuit. You'll get what you pay for, especially in fit. Stick with American brands, as some of the swimsuits from other countries tend to run a lot smaller.
Have fun and hit the beach in style!

I have a pear shape myself and I don't know, but I have never experienced people laughing at me. My question is this - why do you need to wear a bikini? It's rude for people to laugh, but if you are wearing something that doesn't fit you right and/or doesn't flatter your figure, that may be the problem. Let's face it, bikini's are best worn by women who are extremely lean. I love my tankinis, they still look sexy and I feel more confident knowing I am not letting everything hang out there for the world to see, if you know what I mean. Also there are lots of really nice looking one pieces as well that still may show off your curves. I really think it's better to look good in a more modest bathing suit than to try and wear something too skimpy and look uncomfortable.

People aren't laughing... everyone's insecure about their bodies. If you're still insecure about it find a suit with a top with print and bottoms in a solid color. The print draws more attention and the bottom will just kinda blend. You also might want to consider something a little less revealing don't be stuck on the bikini portion of it all... there are plenty of suits out there to flatter your body the most. Good Luck!

Hi. I too have a pear shape and what I find helps a little bit is a nice, cute black skirt thats with the bottom piece of the biniki that way the black color gives the slimming look and you can still swim in it.Also wear a bright colorful patten top so you can draw all eyes up to your top area. So be proud of a nice fun outfit and have fun. :-)

Maybe you just think people are laughing, because pear shape is one of the most healthy, feminine body shapes you can be. Don't hide it, flaunt it.
If you are really insecure, then just use a wrap or sarong to hide the areas you don't like.

I like big butts. . . and I cannot lie, no other brothas can deny, when a girl walks in with . . . nevermind.
Um, doesn't that defeat the idea of a bikini? A bikini is all about being as close to naked as is legal in public. If you're worried about it, get a swim suit with verticle stripes or with one of those wrap things for around your waist. They're flirty and look good while covering the baddonkadonk.

No, You shouldn't try to. If it's women, maybe they are laughing to hide behind the envy of not having such a shape; as most men find it attractive. If it's males, perhaps they're laughing at the words a lil' sexy devil is whispering in their ear!

If your question isn't a joke, which I think it is, look, not everyone is made for a bikini, and it is freezing right now. I'm in excellent shape, and to make it to the beach is such a hassle. Don't worry about it.
