Is America really Black and White?

but the way I see it is If it wasnt for my great, great, grandfather fighting in the cival war, then Micheal Jordan and Denzel Washington, would still be pickin cotton in the field. Some one answered a question with this answer. All I can say is GOD bless your little heart. I really believe that some people are very naive to the facts of slavery and even society today. But to set the record straight none of his white ancestors fought in the civil war to end slavery They fought for a central government they wanted america to be a union and for that they decided to free slaves to get them to fight with them.This was a business deal not a lets free the slaves plan All white people say is get off welfare and stop gettin any other government aid But I look at it like this black people made this country rich with free labor and unfair wages. Black people are light years behind white people as far as economics So why do white people look at black people as leeches?

Some People use history as a way of understanding how to avoid evil if it comes up again. Some people use it as a crutch.

In the words of Martin Luther King Jr. “I have a dream that [our children] will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.” Martin Luther devoted his life in the pursuit of non-violent non-hateful protests. Your goal is to help people realize the evils of racism (an admirable goal) but this question is likely to fuel racism because you seem full of anger. To help end racism you must leave the anger for events that nobody alive today had any part in. We can’t help anyone by telling them that their life sucks because of what happened in history. We can’t change history. In the heart of all reasonable whites and blacks we know racism and segregation are so wrong. Let’s move on. Lets follow the example of Mr. King and stop the hate.

The civil war was economic. You’re right about that. The way slavery started was economic also. The plantation owners didn't sit around thinking. "What race do I hate the most? Let’s go capture them." The reason that blacks where used us because they had minimal military protections and slavery was already accepted in their culture.

Are you angrier at classism or racism? There are plenty of white hillbillies with half their teeth missing that can hardly speak English. You think you're any worse off than them? The problems you state are economic and they impact every race.

most people do acknowledge other ethnicity, but america has such a long history of conflict between blacks and whites and civil rights movements. Most of US history was based on either white or black people. Not that others are less important, there is just more of black/white people with a longer history of conflict. Plus right now hispanics are being mentioned more and more....

You seem like a racist! It is people like you that keep people from getting along, we should all get along. Slavery has been over for a long time now let it go, it is History.Many horrible things have happened to many groups of people and they don't keep bringing it up, they want to forget the horrible past and move on, that is what you should do too. You will be a happier person.You think you know what white people think and you are wrong. All kinds of people black,white,Chinese,Latino etc. are still being paid unfair wages, poverty in this country effects all groups of people and not just blacks, look around, go visit a homeless shelter (and help them while you are there) and you will see for yourself that poverty is not just a black issue.I am white and I don't think of black people the way you think I do at all, you are way off on this one. Grow up!
