From my experience, orange lights blinking indicates that the battery is low. Make sure that you have plugged in the adaptor to the wall, and also to your laptop.

On my laptop, blinking orange light means the battery is almost completely discharged. So, I am guessing that means it is not charging.
First things first: Try to confirm that electricity is, in fact, making its way to the laptop. You could do that by sticking your finger in the socket, but that would be shockingly painful, and only add to your woes today. Soo... I suggest you unplug the laptop, and plug in a lamp, to make sure the outlet is working. Changes are very high that the outlet is OK, but you never know, and it is easy to check for.
If the lamp turns on, unplug it, and plug the laptop back in. Make sure all connections are secure and tight between the wall and the laptop. Many laptops have a cord that runs from the wall to the power brick, and then a cord from the brick to the laptop. Make sure those are all securely connected.
If you are still having problems, try removing the battery, then putting it back in. If the connection was a little loose or not sitting in properly, that could cause your problems.
Next thing to try is another power cord. Is there someone else you could borrow from to test? Make sure it is for the same model of laptop. Using the wrong adapter could cause damage. If not, a service desk at a store like Best Buy might be able to connect it to one of theirs (or a universal adapter) to help diagnose the problem. However, they´ll probably charge you to do so.
If still no luck, it is possible the problem is with the laptop itself. You should take it for service.

Try removing your battery from your system and looking for a button on that battery that indicates its charge level. If there isn't a button for this...plug it into the wall and see what happens.

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
