In my experience white people tend to look down on me because I am black. If i go into a store, Im looked at like a theif. If i apply for a job i am treated like a criminal as though i have a hidden past in prision. If I go to the shop they act like im dirt.

In short. White people think they are better than black people. Why is this? What makes you think that you are more human than me just because my skin is black and yours is white? What makes you think you have more worth than me as a human just because you are white?

Yes I have a chip on my shoulder. Thats one thing the white man cant take from me. The white man can view me through his evil eyes, but he cannot force me to view myself in a negative light. Any white man that thinks i will crawl and kiss *** better think again because i can be you worst nightmare

This can not be a real question. Whites do not look down on blacks, especially when the black person has a chip on their shoulder. That would be way unethical. Usually what has taken place is just that the poster does have a chip on his shoulder and wants to whine. There is no crying in yahoo answers. We are all adults. As adults, we know common sense. Mature people, even white mature people do not act the way you are portraying.

I am black and firstly i have to say... why is it that blacks are always playing victim.... if you want something bad enough - it really doesn't matter what is going on around you - you have to work and get it. You may get a few closed doors in your face, but you will get there. Blacks want things handed to them on a plate and if they don't get it - they play the race card.

Having said that - whites don't help the situation - stop feeling sorry for us, trying to excuse the behaviour - which inadvertently feels like you are looking down on us. I am not saying all - as that would not be fair - but a number of you question our capabilities - give us a chance - there are many who would would surprise you excelling where you may think we will fail and we blacks must be honest - we do not help the situation.

If you look at Asians - they seem to get places and not be treated as a criminal/ thief... They are not white - why do we black never look at that and attempt to achieve their success.

So I have to say
- Some whites do feel they are better - but so do some blacks
- Blacks can be lazy - if you want something - set your plan and achieve it - do not give up on the first hurdle
-Is it too much for everyone to respect who an individual is rather that looking at the colour of their skin?

I am so white I almost glow in the dark. But I was raised to look at what a person has done, not what they look like when dealing with an individual. I was raised to look at a person's potential for growth, not at the shade of skin color or any other genetic characteristic as a determination of worth.

When you are shopping and feel like the store keeper is thinking you are a crook just stand taller and carry out your business. Unfortunately local news shows give only bad news and that gives a false impression of entire groups of people. If a person sees only the bad, that is all they know. Let people get to know you as a man. Let yourself get to know others as well because communication does not happen with only one participant.

There are a whole lot more white people that feel like I do than what you feel like you have experienced. Give us a chance, too.

Not all do, some people are just ignorant, and I don't mean this in a mean way. They just really don't know allot of black folks to know they are like everybody else, some good, some bad, some skinny, some fat, some smart, some dumb, Just like white folks or any other group, On the other hand, you do have SOME people who because of their own personality issues, have the need to feel superior than other people, Look at the KKK, they hated Catholics (like me) and Jewish people, and a list of others. Normally the people who feel that way just have esteem issues. I do think if all races really got to know each other, they would find were much more alike than they think. I do think what doesn't help the issue is the vocal minority of allot of groups is what people think the group is as a whole.

Come on man...that's foolish! Was a manager in a wee store in Manchester years ago, and I'm ashamed to say many of the 'punters' I used to get the police to take away where either the same colour as me (mixed-race) or black lads...but that never made me look at such people as 'inferior' - the part of the town where I lived in at the time was the sort right-wing newspapers loved to report about when they had nothing else to say. However, if black people spend their lives going about life with those thoughts, then indeed there is something wrong with their outlook. You say you've had a spell behind bars - could be that particular period of your life has had you meet people of obvious influence...and you've come out somewhat tainted. Best grow up - apart from the usual suspects, white folk on the whole are not like that - in fact, went to Carnival in July, and found that it was blacks who seemed all vexed and ready to rumble.

Your 'uncle Tom' sneer makes me wonder if you have a bona fide problem you want to solve, or indeed, you've a chip the size of a double-decker bus on your shoulder.

It's not that we think we are better than you. It is all about self defense.

I was never around black people until my late teens. I really had zero racism at that point. The black kids from the neighborhood we move to were ok. But the kids bussed in were total A-holes. I had to deal with them being thugs every day.

All white people have to act the way we do around you, because ALOT of other guys who look like you are here to rip us off and act like thugs.

Is that so hard to understand? I really feel horrible for the righteous black guys out there, but even some good guys just make matters worse by looking and talking like gangsters.

We all walk around everyday creating our own self fulfilling prophecies.

You know if you walked around dressed like Colin Powell, looked people in the eye and smiled, you would be treated totally different.

It sucks that there are so many white people who are like that, but it is the exact same mentality to use the blanket statement-"why do whites think they are 'better' than blacks? " That is just as unfair to me. I shouldn't have to go out of my way to prove to you that I'm some kind of rare non racist white guy. The fact is most of us are not racist. I think you would be hard pressed to find a white person under 50 who never had a black hero growing up or even now. Its not the 1820's you arent a slave, Its not the 1950's anymore you aren't segregated. You do have affirmative action and antidiscrimination employment laws and hate crime laws. I don't know what else we can do politically. I think the only answer is to reach out and find like minded people of the other race to befriend and show solidarity with. Fighting and demonizing isnt the answer though.

I am white. I am married to a Mexican. Why do my black neighbors look down on me? These kind of questions can be asked in just about any neighborhood or any store and for the most part the answer would be that they are not. If you look for racism you will find it. My black neighbors look down at everyone in our neighborhood not just me. I don't know if it is because they are suspicious of all of us or if they truly think they are better than the rest of us. Doesn't matter hopefully as they get to know all of us better the attitude will change. This is what you must learn to do. Get to know individuals. Every group is made up of individuals and they are all different. There are whites who hate blacks just as there are blacks who hate whites. You and I cannot change them all we can change is ourselves. So how do you do I am glad to meet you.

All white people are not bad you have the ones who think they are better than us and the ones feel bad and pity us because we are black. There are a few that just act normal too. But the people who she is referencing are the men who were in their prime and where raised during the civil rights movement so they were raised to think different. They grew up to be the men and women who are our leaders. They are now the Presidents of companies, Senator, and other government leaders. So they get to spread the racism because they make up laws. Lets not bring up Katrina because that proves my point.Government- F the blacks The pity comes- they are not refugees their evacuees. Then 7 days later-They are people too so lets help get them out of there.

Sounds to me that people look down on you and just you because you are a criminal, a thief in fact who spent time in a dirty prison!!

How dare you make generalisations and what gives you the right to speck for all black people. I would say I definitely am better than you, more human then you, and have much more worth than you as a human.

i think of is via the "pureness". each thing seems so ordinary in black and white, like the real essence of issues is captured. i don't think of like could be greater advantageous in black and white, because of the fact those at the instant are not the only colours, there are a number of colorings of gray in between. we choose colour. It supplies that spark to life. Edit: I accept as true with Taylor.
