Turkey doesn't allow freedom of religious expression or association. To join the EU they would have to agree to abide by the EU charter which mandates such freedom. Article 301 basically makes it illegal to convert from Islam to another faith.

I think it's the one that makes it a crime to insult the Turkish state or its institutions, totally contrary to the EU human rights law.
There is one prominent journalist/writer being in front of the courts just now, and that has led to friction.
The other reason is of course the racism of many Europeans, or more "anti-moslemism", the Turks are no different colour from other mediterranen people at all, and in continental Europe that kind of racism really and truly is not very common.
And there is the age-old enmity between Turkey and Greece, still virulent over Cyprus, where I think the Turkish Cypriots have already been treated very shabbily by Europe.

Being a Ghanaian, i could say Ghana vs. Italy or the Netherlands... Ghana has an exceedingly stable team, yet hasn't extremely showcased it utilising actuality of limitless injuries, passport subjects, and so on. they have between the main sought after person-studded Midfield interior the international... Italy is transforming into very previous, yet at the same time as Lippi can get some youthful game enthusiasts which incorporate Balotelli and Santon, they are able to alter right into a youthful squad, yet they have distinctive adventure on the international element to boot, and an trouble-free team... The dutch are very stable, and could be a probability for many communities... all in alla avery stable opposition.

Besides that obvious adherance to Islam, Turkey is 99% Islamic and it has the crescent moon and star in its flag (a symbol synonymous with Islam), it borders with Syria, Iraq and Iran (all very Islamic countries which all have heavy features of terrorism). THIS IS NOT EUROPEAN!!!! It is Middle-Eastern. Now the EU want to let them in!!! Its nuts!
Soon China will be looking to join!
