its been throbbing for about 4 days now....what can cause this?

Infection, corneal abrasion, or both. Either way you need to go to an opthamologist and get it checked out. If it's a corneal abrasion, it can literally take years to heal--I know because I've had one for almost 7 years now.

Without seeing your eye there is no way someone can even begin to guess what is going on. See the doc before it gets serious.

your eye may be infected, it might have dust or dirt may of blown in it, you should go to the doc coz you may get some serious eye damage.
