it comes from the fact that he was always late to work, turning up after eight, so phill nick named him minty, due to the after eight mints

Allegedly the name was given to him by Phil Mitchell because when they were mates they would arrange to meet in the pub at 8pm. Minty was always late - turning up 'After 8' - hence he's named after the Mint chocolate - Minty xx

They call him minty because of the fact he became into constantly late. They spoke of as him after 8like the chocolate because of the fact he constantly have been given to places 'after 8' and then minty because of the fact the chocolate is minty interior.

Because when his mum was having him, she sucked mints to cope with the contractions! This proved to be a very useful tool in distracting her and having something to concentrate on! She'd eaten so many of the things (it was a looong labour), when he eventually popped out (if only it were that easy!!) he was smelling very fresh indeed!! So it seemed only natural that she name him after the very thing that helped her through her ordeal!X Hope this helpsX
