HI!
For the first: 5 times six equals 30.
Second: x to the yth power.
When in doubt...don't be afraid to ask! :) :)

So, in English, we usually say "times" instead of multiply.
The word "of" also works. Example:
What is 0.5 x 6?
You could say what is one-half TIMES 6.
Or, what is one-half OF 6.
"OF" is convenient with fractions usually.
Your other question, about powers:
x^4 would be said x to the 4th power.
Except, like the other person mentioned, squared and cubed mean 2nd and 3rd power.

Yeah, five times six equals thirty (or 'is' thirty)... ok, for calculus: x to the ____ power. ie x to the tenth power when you have x multiplied by itself ten times.

For powers, it's "x to the y-th power" with a few exceptions:
x^2 is "x squared"
x^3 is "x cubed"
x^4, x^5 etc. is "x to the fourth power", "x to the fifth power" etc.
