It seems to me you have a very jaded perception of life. That is sad.

I know of so many circumstances of people helping others for no reason other than they saw a need and did something about it.

As far as if it is real or not, that is for you to decide, do you feel you are just playing a role? Take stock of yourself, your philosophies and decide if you are living your life in a "real way" or not.

Apparently those are people who haven't been raised to do things for others. If a person saw sharing and giving without expecting in return then that is usually the way they will grow up, unless down the line of life they ran into people who are selfish and it rubbed off on them.

My kids and I have put very expensive coins in the Salvation Army pot two times. One time it was a solid gold coin that weighed over an ounce. I guess the selfish part of that was the great feeling we got doing something good and totally anonymous. I guess not so anonymous since I just told you! I wish we had those coins every year.

That is so NOT true!
I just helped a little boy who was screaming his head off at the grocery store, his toy car had fallen under the cart and nobody could see that's why he was crying.

Nobody paid me to do it. There are nice people out there.

Because by human nature, people think of themselves. Some of us may not like that fact, but it is a fact nonetheless. We are not inherently selfless...it is in our genes and our historical background to look out for numero uno.

All you can do is be the best you can be and by your example, other may follow. I've seen it many times and know personally it works.
