love: a heart, a red rose, two rings interconnected to eachother
hate: a hand with the middle finger up haha. it would work!

Although love is a heart, hatred is a bit more problematic.

since both of these are uniquely human feelings (except for my dog of course) their symbols are usually wrapped up in human actions especially humans expressions if you look into the eyes of someone who deeply loves you and watch the way their eyes "talk" to you, you can actually feel that love, same with hate...symbols for feelings in our current society are hard to come by. it is like asking what the smybol for a taste or a color is

red works for both passion and hatred pink is an innocent love, black is also hate green is envy white can be love , knifes are angry, rain can be angry and sexy/romatic, peoples eyes can also have both hate, and love in them

Love would be: heart, cupid, arrow etc.
Hate would be: something dark and sinister - a dirty look a nasty comment, something evil - snakes? (can't think of anything more!!)
