There has always been pornography. The ancient Romans even had brothels (there's an intact one in Pompeii - look it up) with pornographic drawings on the walls and doors. There's a huge collection of ancient Roman pornography at the archaelogical museum in Naples.

Many of the earliest photographs and moving pictures (which is where the term "movies" comes from) were pornographic in nature. Video took off because of pornography. Even today, more than half of all the rented and purchased videos and DVDs are adult films.

In modern times, Al Gore invented the Internet, which is also for porn.

That's like asking who thought people should smile?

I looked up the etymology of pornography and got this:
1857, "description of prostitutes," from Fr. pornographie, from Gk. pornographos "(one) writing of prostitutes," from porne "prostitute," originally "bought, purchased" (with an original notion, probably of "female slave sold for prostitution;" related to pernanai "to sell," from PIE root per- "to traffic in, to sell," cf. L. pretium "price") + graphein "to write." Originally used of classical art and writing; application to modern examples began 1880s. Main modern meaning "salacious writing or pictures" represents a slight shift from the etymology, though classical depictions of prostitution usually had this quality. Pornographer is earliest form of the word, attested from 1850. Pornocracy (1860) is "the dominating influence of harlots," used specifically of the government of Rome during the first half of the 10th century by Theodora and her daughters.

I imagine the first time people figured out they could use sticks to draw in the mud, it was a matter of days at the most before someone drew a penis.

Get yourself a Dictionary and look the word up, you will find that the word does not mean exactly what most younger people (under 40) think it means as the word has been hijacked by the vocal minority

The idea has probably been in men's head since the dawn of time. I think it was Hugh Hefner that printed the first magazine though.

sex is not a bad thing, at least when its done right

I think churches wanted to make people feel guilt to get money from them.

Then sex gets repressed, when it gets repressed, it comes out anyway in weird and often bad forms.
