64-66, for $40 you can buy a programable t-stat that you can set for example at 11pm to drop to 64 then at 7am to heat upto 70 then 8:30 after you leave for work to drop back down to 64. Also it does not cost more to heat your house back up when you have had the heat down, this takes only about twenty minutes instead of your heat cycling on and off all day trying to maintain 72.

In the mid-west (USA) many furnaces are set for 70 degrees during the day and turned down 3-5 degrees at night. With the large number of people that work during the day will use a programmable T-Stat set to heat up the house starting around 5:30am and then turn down the stat after everyone leaves for work and then back to normal araound 5:00p and back down at bedtime.. Many older people will keep their T-Stats set higher during the day. Temperature settings is really very personal and it is up to the family to determine what they want.
If you turn the T-Stat down more than 6 degrees it will take more time to reheat the house when needed.

at night when you are sleeping it is all down to a case of what you are comfortable with. during the day approx 10 Celsius. this will stop your house becoming too cold. it is never a good idea to turn off heating during the day because it will take longer & thus cost more to get back up to temp in the evening. you can buy programmable room stats for about £30-£40 so you can preset up to 6 different temps throughout the day.
