If you're asking if girls can wear boys clothes, then the answer is of course they can. If you asking about compulsive cross-dressing meaning when a person NEEDS to wear the clothes of the opposite gender then that's reserved to males.

Compulsive cross dressing happens when the brain releases a series of powerful neurotransmitters which gives the person a sensation of well-being, sexual gratification, and self fulfillment. It is powerful and it is addictive. The person may try to quit crossdressing but he can't. The person may try harder and harder to get a greater thrill from cross-dressing. He may develop a female alter-ego and give "her" a name. He may even find himself in love with his own alter-ego. Women who marry cross-dressers often say they feel like their husband's second love.

Similar to complusive cross-dressing is sexual fetishes, This has the same effects on the brain but does not involve changing one's appearance.

nope look at K.D. Lang, she dresses like a guy all the time, and Marlena Dietrich did the same thing. Cross dresser is not a gender specific word.

Well, I guess because usually a girl who tries to dress or appear as manly might be a lesbian, but men who are cross dressers are not always gay. not that all women who dress manly are gay, it just seems that way often.

Well since women wear pants now, just wearing, say.... a flanel shirt, isn't a weird add on. Now since men don't wear dresses.... it's weird if they do. There are tomboys that would rather NOT dress girly girl, and they aren't gay........but a man that want's to wear dresses is looked at as gay...

Hetalia: no longer a romance, however the personification of Poland (yeah, hetalia is with reference to the personifications of countries once you're at a loss for words) bypass outfits once or twice. OH and that i'm exceedingly particular Momiji from culmination Basket crossdresses, inspite of the undeniable fact that i'm no longer a hundred % particular in view that i've got no longer somewhat watched various the sequence.

no i dont think so, its just that when guy dressess like a gilr its too obvious that he is cross dressing while girls who wear guys clothes are usually not obvious because people think that this is normal.

A guy dressed as a girl is more controversial, I guess, since girls already wear pants and it's more accepted.
