Hi, I have been told by my doc that my baby has a cows milk protein allergy, he has prescribed soya formula, but I have read that this can cause allergic symptoms as well, is this true? Anyone else know anything about this?

oh-boy, been there...

I gave my son soy formula and was miseriable, I used Emfail Nutramigen Lipil, it helped with his colic and his dislike of soy milk, it's expensive, but the well-being of my son is priceless, sometimes WIC programs will help with the cost.

I have been a mom for 27 years and have provided daycare in my home for 20 years. Only one of my daycare children had a true dairy allergy that developed when she was about 6 months old. She was being breast fed and started refusing to nurse. She started having a lot of gas, vomiting, and crying. Quite unusual for a breast fed baby. They switched her to soy formula and she was fine. She did not develop an allergy to soy, but some babies do. Another one of my daycare children had an intolerance to cow's milk protein as well as had an intolerance to soy formula, but was able to drink goat's milk. She outgrew her allergy and now drinks cow's milk just fine.
