Where should society draw the line on kids in bars?

Question

I see a lot of kids in bars don't think they belong there. It seems that I am in the minority. People say "they are not bars, they are restaurants." I know better though. I see a lot of kids in places where a lot of power drinking is going on. The management/owners put in baby changing stations, but that does'nt make it Disneyland. I see a lot of two fisted drinkers in a lot of bars (I know cause I am one of them). I think this is a potential explosive situation. There are a lot of fights in bars n'est pas?

I don't think the problem starts with the bars. It shouldn't be the bars responsibility. It should the parents who have enough respect and love for their children to not want them in that environment. I have 2 boys, ages 6 and 8, and feel that little ones should first off, not be in a place where drinking is going on, but also shouldn't be out in a restaurant at 9:00 pm. Little ones should have their bed times, and also, I like to go out at 9:00 myself without hearing little ones screaming. That is why I chose to go out that late with my husband.

Parents need to think more of their children and what's good for them. They need to take their job as parents a lot more seriously. They need to put aside their wants for the benefits of their children's health and safety!

I agree with you. I go to alot of bars to play in dart tournaments and see kids quite frequently. I don't know if it's because the parents just don't want to get a baby sitter, or if they're really not thinking about the environment their kids are in. I don't have any children, but if I did, I certainly would NOT take them to a bar.

the line should be drawn at the door...of common sense. Many restaurants have bars in them. It is not appropriate for kids.
