I have a Manchester dual-core 4200 and 1 Gig of ram, but when I use my web cam on Yahoo IM, the pictures refresh about one every 2 to 3 seconds. I can't seem to get it to go faster (God knows the computer should be able to handle MUCH more than that!), so I think the web cam itself is to blame. If it is, how do I get a good one so my web cam is smooth and fast or how do I get this one to work right?
PLEASE, no stupid answers. I get tired of telling idiots to do their point farming elsewhere.

Frontech web cam is the best it even supports Win98se also

You might want to update your question and say what web cam you are now using. It may be just an incorrect setting.
I just picked up the logitech orbit off ebay for about $45. It works great on a 2.5ghz 512meg ram system.
I typically use skype because it transfers bigger pictures. The kids use it to call Grandmother and it is crystal clear.

could also be ya net connection... refresh rates of the cam and the net work together... is it ok if its not broadcasting but you are just looking at the pic in my computer...

Maybe ur problem is come from your internet connection. Please check it. Don't use dial up, if you want a smooth video on your web cam
