Growing zones 6 and 7. Nothing north of I-80. They grow the best in Maryland.

Not recommended in Central Valley of California due to problems with disease and pests. Do better elsewhere, including some of the NorthEast, as show in URLs.

I have worked in the wholesale nursery business for 4 years,so my answer is not without experience.Leyland cypress is not native to the northeast, but it does make a good home in our soil here.when first planting it be sure to add plenty of peat moss to give it a good head start.i have noticed that this tree really has no preference on well-drained or moist soil, suprisingly.
