There is no federal law talking about marriage, it's a states issue. Laws about marriage appear in State Constitutions, not in the federal one. In fact, since there is no federal laws about it, I'm wondering why gay marriage is a natgional issue? Let the states decide; after all, they're the ones who hand out the licenses ("Power invested in me by the state of ____".)
Fun fact: In addition to marriage, the U.S. Constitution does not recognize a persons right to an education.

You are correct, the States regulate marriage & issues licenses for marriage.
I think if an article stated that people have a constitutional right to marry, then the author meant they have an innate right and not a literal "right" granted in the constituition.

Marriage is not mentioned in the US Constitution. You are correct. You have to get a license to marry. Marriage is a tradition, now controlled by government and by religions.

It doesn't specifically say it. It one of the fundamental "liberty" rights, which valid case law interpreting the Constitution has said are implied.

getting a married license is just another way the goverment steals money from us...that simple.
anyone can marry, but for it to be recognized as a legal marriage in the eyes of the goverment, you must buy the license.

i don't think its a constitutional right, but the constitution does mention the right pursue happiness. My dad called the courthouse before his and mom's first anniversary to make sure he didn't have to "renew" his marriage license.
