Putin's people murdered Anna Politkovskaya in October. Now they try to kill Alexander Litvinenko by poisoning him. And they deny it. Isn't it kind of obvious? That they still are communists at heart. During the communist rule, the government killed thousands of people for not liking the government. They changed their government because it was unjust. Now they are supposedely democratic, but they continue doing it, although not on such a large scale. Do they really consider the public to be so stupid as not to figure it out?

that's assuming the Russian Government has any control over the people responsible for both of these deaths. How sure are we that organisations within Russia are not working independently?

Why does everyone seem to have sympathy for Litvinenko? What you overlook is that this man is a traitor. He turned against his own county and no doubt gave up state secrets to gain entry in the UK. Think about how the Russian people would feel? Would Americans have sympathy if Benedict Arnold was poisoned by George Washington? If some high level CIA agent defected to Russia or to Saddam Hussain and gave secret to the enemy, do you think it is barbaric for the US to kill the particular agen?
THis man may be useful to the west because of all the information he knows, but certainly a defector deserves no respect. They have already shown they cannot be trusted once.

The Russians over the centuries have been shaky people and I've never put anything pass them. From the days of Catherine the Great through to Rasputin and now, I think they're not to be trusted and when something like this occurs, it doesn't surprise me the government are involved.

This doesn't make thwem still communists (communism is first and foremost an economic system), but the Russian government clearly has a bunch of totalitarians still in it. Adding to recent acts, they're undermining the government of Georgia and still prosecuting their war in Chechnya.

It seems leaders have always wanted to protect their position. When they could get rid of opposition openly, it didn't really matter to them how they did it, but now they have to do it in secret and deny all knowledge if the story leaks. George Bush once said that a Dictatorship would be much easier. i think that's what they all want.

well i think its reassuring that if the Russian government is assassinating people they are at least trying to be sneaky about it.
the American and British governments are murdering people as we speak and they seem positively proud of the fact and make no attempt to hide it whatsoever. personally i find that enrages me more than what the Russians may or may not be up to.

Well I guess they do. At the moment the Dr's don't know what he was poisoned with, and therefore making the mystery bigger. But these big countries think they can get away with any thing. Lets face it. They can. That includes Britain.
