A lot of people act like they do, but I don't know if it could possibly be true. I wonder if people convince themselves of this when they really know they're settling. It seems like a lot of people think it would take too much time to find what they really want (or even figure out what they want), so they make exceptions (sexual partner, place to live, job, etc.).

Yes, I do...

What is it? Nothing...

If you have no expectations, nothing can disappoint you!

Beyond that, anything else that you may receive, is just ICING........

Nobody can have all their life's wants. Some may not know what their wants are yet. Most goals are have a good job, get married and have a family, nice house (the same as you said) but they always feel they want MORE.

Nobody has the decision to go to heaven...that's what most people want yet they can't have it...the same as eternal life, saving someone they love and all the hard things only a miracle worker can do.

In conclusion, no one has everything they want because there's always a list which needs to add ONE more thing yet when they fulfill it they add something more and add and add and add...It's best to be happy with what you've got than be sad you don't have what other people do...

Wow. Deep question. I guess in some ways I do. My work is what I love. I live in a place I love. And I have a partner I love. So, yes, I guess I am content. But, I am never complacent. I never take anything for granted. I challenge myself all of the time both physically and intellectually. So, no, I don't have everything and never will. Nor would I even want to. :)

I think almost everyone has a sense of emptiness inside, at least occasionally, if they are honest with themselves. I dont think this is bad, though. Lack of contentment is what drives human beings to do great things. If we were all happy with the way things are there would be no invention, no discovery, no exploration. I do think a lot of people settle and never reach their true potential.

.its an endless chase of thinking the grass is greener on the other side...so, we are never content with what we have.

I say we should be greatful for what we have. do you know we here in modern times live better than kings and royality did years ago?

Doubt it. People always want something else, even when they get what they want. If you have happiness in your life that is the most important thing.
