I had Earthlink dial up, and had it set to auto-connect. I now have EMBARQ high speed, and that is working fine except I keep getting error messages from Earthlink trying to authenticate and dial out. I want to keep Earthlink tools, like virus protection , just want to get rid of the dialer.

No can do, you can't just keep part of Earthlink, either you do away with it, or you keep it,

You have another network, you need to make a clean break from Earthlink. Remove the AntiVirus program they may have supplied you and try AVG Free (don't run two antivirus at same time) If want stay with it--then talk to Earthlink and find out about their connections. ..it could be they havn't turned off the dialer or maybe they can't.

Click on START on your Windows task bar, choose Control Panel. When Control Panel opens, look down till you find Network Connections, click on and it. Choose the old dial up connection, right click, and choose Delete.
