Once a person has finished being useful to society and the planet, why not eliminate them from the system. You could save billions by removing the sick, disabled and unemployed from society. If you set an elimination date for someones 50th Birthday then you would free up both resources and space on the planet for the next generations. Sounds like Logans Run I know but surely it makes sense more than ever now as we move ever closer to an aged population of retired people serving no useful purpose?

Difficult to put an absolute age on it - some people are useful way past the age of 50, others are useless from the age of 15.
But why not voluntary Euthanasia - someone who's got nothing to live for but tea and Emmerdale, might "want" to take a trip to the other side, just to see if it's true, or not. But they're not allowed to.

Oh my God! That’s the end of me then. I'm 50. I would hardly call myself "elimination" material though; I'm as fit as I was when I was 25 (no! I wasn't as unfit as a 50 yr old when I was 25) & have a lot of use left in me thanks. Anyway, how can you decide by someone’s age whether they are useless? I know a lot of "younger" people that I'd put in the "useless" bracket (or should I say bucket) some have never even started to be "useful" to themselves let alone society.
I think people need to be made far more aware of just how fit they can actually keep themselves as they age. We're too conditioned to believe that once we pass a certain age everything starts dropping off & we're destined to have aches & pains & illnesses that we somehow have no control over. "If it hurts don't use it" is the attitude of a lot of people when they start getting to middle age, no wonder society is getting sicker (if that's a word) Exercise & a good mental image is what keeps us younger & more useful to ourselves, our family & to society.
So come on everyone, start moving, get fit, keep fit & kick butt of all those that think 50 is old. That way you won't have the aches & pains that "older" people moan about & you won't become useless either.
Doesn't solve the problem of being over crowded but at least we would be able to leap frog out of each others way.

Well its quiet obvious you have no idea of what your saying, have you actually seen much of life, if so you would know that everyone, no matter who they are serve some useful purpose in life, everyone has a right to life no matter what their age, status or capability, those old retired people you are talking about have earned their place in society by working their backsides off for the likes of you, your idea is a very dangerous one and sick to boot.

What about the poor children in 3rd world countries? Its not their fault that they were born poor. They could make great contributions to society if given the chance to live! I think that all the hateful people should step up for euthanasia first.

You should look up the term Eugenics on Wikipedia. Then you'll see the Nazis had that same idea and that's where ethnic cleansing came from... Not a solution to the problem at all as you'll always have someone who would make the decision based on their prejudices. I wouldn't want my parents wiped out when they are 50! Would you?

Wow I am shocked by your statements and I totally reject it because 1 Who is to say when a person has outlived his purpose of serving People? My grandmother lived until 95 and I still miss her today. Do you mean to tell me that by your standards she would have been killed? She gave me comfort every day she lived, You seem to be somewhat obese. So lets turn your statement around and say lets eithenise any person who is obese, That would be horrible, wouldn't it? See what I mean. Don't try to play God

If you think age makes people useless you must be young and not yet have assimilated the experience of older people. Carefull, useless people are those who cant take advantage of what the others have done.....could YOU be useless ????
