My computer seems to want to save jpegs as bitmap files on Google Images and other sites. Any idea what is causing this and how to fix it?

The pictures are listed as Jpegs but I can't even change in the drop down menu on Save As.

~I'm sure it is easily answered, but so is everything in life if you know the answer. So smart @r$e$ need not reply ;)

Try cleaning your cache. Go to tools-->Internet options and under the general tab, use these to clean. When temp builds up, it will not allow you to save jpg. and instead turns jpg into bmp.

I also found that if you take the url of the jpg image and put it in Firefox or netscape, you will then be able to save it.
