You don't have to tell her if you don't want to. I don't think it's really any of her business, but if you need her to buy pads, tampons or a diva cup for you, you should just say something like, "hey mom, I started my period. Could you pick me up some tampons?" If she gets all mushy and embarassing, tell her to stop and if she doesn't, leave the room. Getting your period can be extremely personal and if your mom respects you AND remembers what it's like, she won't embarass you too much.

Just tell her. She's been waiting for this since the doc told her 'It's a girl!'. Every woman goes through this, she's waiting for this.... If you tell her, it would make her day. Don't be afraid of your mom. When I was your age and I had to tell my mom, I was like you, didn't want the akwardness or the 'talk', but it has to be done. As you get older, you'll get closer to your mom if you both realize that you can confide in each other. I'm so close to my mom now, I can tell her anything and I can't imagine my life without my mom.... This can make you guys closer than you are now and trust me...there's nothing else better than knowing you can talk to your mom about anything.

Just tell her. Be grateful for her support. Yes it is embarassingbut she will find out anyway. Your mum loves you and mushiness is her way of expressing her love for you? Have you got an older sister or afamily friend whom you can approach if you cannot tell your mum by yourself?. You have told the whole world on the internet so surely it cannot be that hard to tell her?

i had the exact same situation. i was really embarrassed to tell her when i started and kept planning things to say to her but would chicken out. don't worry about it though! she'll totally understand! if u don't want the situation to be so awkward, just leave a note on her pillow before she goes to bed tonight and let her know that u don't want it to be made such a big deal. good luck!!!!

Honey: She knows more than you think, having your period is part of maturing, growing up so, act your age and get in there and tell her.
