The American and Australian government are refusing to clean up their industries to help stop pollution?

The way they talk I'd say it is because they dont believe that THERE IS a problem!
I think myself they are scared to antagonise the companies that are doing the polluting and are more interested in money than the future health of the planet.
Maybe when they are hit by a few more disasters like hurricanes in places never hit before, They will realise it costs more to repair the damage done and start taxing the industries. It may be too late by then though!

The USA has and continues to refuse to sign anything that is not in its own self interest and always has and always will.
(Nuclear, Biological, Chemical, Depleted Uranium, Cluster bombs, land mines and the rest)
They did act on one of the major problems of the Asbestos manufacture danger to health (cancer) they moved the plant to Mexico.
