Oracle is a complete program.
GOOD THINGS ABOUT ORACLE
It has its own database...
VB & Others software uses others engines like (MS Access or SQL) but Oracle has its own database. which is very good.
same like oracle Visual Foxpro also have its own database but now it is not using anywhere
Oracle is fast....its powerful as compare to any other software
BAD THINGS ABOUT ORACLE
its really expensive
its never totally support its previous version (means like if you have a word file u can open in word 95 as well as in word 2000)
you have to purchase tools with it (like for back up, for database administration, for security seperatly) but if you are looking for VB or VB.net its a total package
In my opiniion go for VB.net its fast neck to neck with Oracle,
its powerful also
its comes with Microsoft Support
its will always support its previous versions

oracle is probably more robust and advanced database.. if you are new to this area. go for mysql or mssql
