The place you want to go to is a beautiful one, but the timing is all wrong. Around this time it is crowded and not comfortable at all to be there. Muggings, pickpockets, all kinds of scary stuff. People get so congested. You can't even swim. The best you'll get of the beach is from your hotel window, if you are high enough.

Mango sounds okay for the money you will be paying for it. Be aware that they don't have that much leg room, it is a lowcost airline of course. But the service is just fine. Remember you don't get served any food, you buy everything on the plane. Chips, cooldrinks...

Go, but please be safe and don't go alone at night.

South Coast in Natal? Or South Coast, Eastern Cape?
In Natal there is lots of activities on Durban's beach front, and I know places like Scottburgh always use to have beach festivals, with bands playing etc. Avoid the beach on Xmas, Boxing and New Years day though, that's when all the working class folks, with their dozens of kids go to the beach. One cant even swim, just stand around in the water. New Years eve on Margate beach is also quite fun, and something I'd recommend you do once, if you haven't done it before.
Overall Natal is always fun-filled over December, and you wont be short of things to do.

If you want a practical example of over populated... go to a Durban beach on New Year's day
