Plenty of fluids, and seek her OB to give her an RX or recommend something OTC that is safe for the baby. The big concern is dehydration with being sick/throwing up.

if your friend is being frequently sick through out the day or night, is having trouble keeping food and fluids down and has lost any weight make her go to the doctors. there is a condition called hyperemesis gravidarum (exessive vomiting during pregnancy) the she may be suffering from.
here is a good site to have a look at
http://www.hyperemesis.org.uk/
if she seems to have all the relevant symptoms it is important the condition is diagnosed and treated early as your friend could become severely dehydrated and malnurished which could harm the baby. if the sickness is really bad and the gp says theres nothing he can do demand a second opinion. there is treatment for this condition such as anti nausia drugs and fluids can be given via an intravenous drip if your friend is dehydrated.
i have had this condition twice the first time no health professional could work out what was wrong with me and i was prescribed gaviscon for indegestion!!! it was only after the birth a community midwife mentioned the condition to me after i had suffered alone for months. my baby was a very low birth weight too. i also had this condition in my third pregnancy but because i was aware of the condition i demamded treatment.
good luck to your friend

Try eating dry foods like water biscuits. Eat little and often. Peppermint tea can help too. She also needs to keep her proties levels up so simple grilled chicken breast would be good. Is she taking pre-natal vitamins? Just to make sure the baby is getting what it needs. Excessive morning sickness in pregnancy can be a sign that something is wrong, if she is worried she should see a midwife.
I have just found an excellent booklet called Managing Morning Sickness by Marilyn M. Shannon. Here is the link: http://ccli.org/store/onlineshopping.php?criteria=category&f_cat=nutrition&catpr=30&order_by=name

She should see her doctor. If the "natural" remedies aren't working then she might need anti emetics as excessive sickness can be harmful for both mother and baby.
There are safe anti emetics that can be used in pregnancy (I was given Cyclizine) but they should only be used under a doctor's advice.
I tried all the self help and natural remedies (dry biscuits, ginger etc) and none of it worked so I had to be given medication. It depends on how bad it is really. Some women cope fine with nibbling on ginger root/crackers or sipping ginger ale. Others need a bit more help.

Peppermint - tea or mints you suck - if you are in the UK try polo mints. Also try to eat little and often (if you can) as you can feel worse if your blood sugar drops which is a cruel irony as eating is the last thing you want to do since you feel so sick but eating a smalll amount can reduce the sickness ( if you are lucky).
Contrary to one of the other answers I thought that morning sickness was a good sign during pregnancy - it means that there are plenty of pregnacy hormones so there is less chance of miscarriage.

The best thing is to keep dry crackers or digestives by her bed for her to nibble first thing. Also she should try having raspberry tea, it worked for me, and I know what i am talking about, i had morning sickness for 6 months! Tell her not to eat or drink anything acidic, which includes most fruits and veg. Bananas are good as they give you a little more energy. Tell her to keep drinking lots of fluids, but not tea and coffee, as this will make her feel much worse as the caffeine will dehydrate her. She needs to eat little and often to keep her stomach settled. Having a packet of crackers or plain biscuits in your bag at all times will help.

Struggling self with 2nd pregnancy generally when driving!! Thank goodness my soon had an empty crisp packet in car now travelling with nappy sacks at hand. I've been having stem ginger biscuits and ginger ale helping slightly. I generally get nausea around 1pm when just heading for work lasting most evening till sleep.

25mg of vitamin B6 three times a day is the best thing for morning sickness. It is healthy for the baby, helps with energy and cures the nausea and vomiting.
