I wrote out what I do with mine then realized this would be irresponsible of me to do.
Tell the person you borrowed the book from how they would like to handle this! If insured the person may want to go that route.
It was a accident.....
Good luck!

If you didn't put the pencil marks there, and noone else in the house did it either, then probably they were there when the book was given to you.
Perhaps tell your cousin that you found the pencil marks in the book - & she'll probably tell you how they got there.
Pencil is really easy to remove though - use an art eraser - & gently rub the marks out.

Get a Papermate mechanical pencil that has the clear container. The white erasers in this pencil are excellent, and not grainy. They will not rip the paper apart, and will erase the lead very well! Good luck!

Since it's just an eraser, erase the marks.. Or you can apply your creativity on that depending on how the marks look like.. You can put some colors like crayons and stickers to make it attractive..You know, to hide those marks.. Afterwards, you can return it to the owner and tell him or her that you enjoy reading his book, or, that you like it very much.. Please him as much as you could so that he can easily forgive you. Better tell the truth, dear. And tell him that you gave all your effort just to loose those marks.. a friendly advise

I read some where to remove pencil from wall paper to very lightly rub with a piece of bread ,i know that wall paper is thicker than paper so i would be gentle if you decide to use this idea.

art gum eraser. It's grey, you knead it like silly putty, it will remove graphite without damaging the page.
