Why cant Americans just be like the rest of the world?
Other countries play sports like soccer, rugby, cricket etc, Americans must invent American Football, Baseball and Basketball!!
Americans must drive on the right side of the road?!
Why cant Americans just speak English the way it was invented?!
The list could go on forever!!
PS....I admire Americans and have no problems with them or their culture, just wondering why all the differences!!

Its because of their superiority complex. Sadly, they don't seem to realise how far from the truth this is. (Is it different or stupid?)

American football was born from rugby, so you have us there.
Baseball was reinvented by Americans, but we weren't the first. There had been all sorts of reinventions of the game all over the UK. Incidentally, baseball isn't a rip off of cricket. It's a variation on rounders.
Basketball was invented by Americans, so we aren't different.
Sports changed a lot not only between England and America, but everywhere the games spread. There were always local variations (the same is done with language, food, etc.) and what cemented these things in place was the ability to play the game for a living. There were rules established so everyone knew what was to be expected of them.
Since basketball had been established and the rules codified, the NBA is now looking to expand the sport to China. In China, they would learn the basketball rules - not "American" rules. Since new sports are likely to have rules established right away now, we probably won't see divergent games anymore.
We drive on the right side of the road because work animals had always been trained to walk on the left. Driving toward them on the opposite side of the street was the only way to not spook them. As cars became more popular and roads became better, it was just something that continued because that was what we had become familiar with.
No one speaks English the way it was invented-not even the English. Language is something that evolves over time. I don't know what happened to our accent, but our first settlers were English. The written word is what changed both languages and the spelling of words. On each side of the pond, new expressions were always coming into popularity, so our languages changed as well. If establishing America were happening today instead of 200+ years ago, we'd still be connected with cell phones, etc. and our languages could change together instead of apart.

IT's HARD TO BE HUMBLE WHEN YOUR THE BEST...
Americans excel in almost everything then do. Why do you think other contries send their brilliant minds to come and study in America? America has been around for what 250 years only, and already a super power... Cleaning up everyones mess and leadidng the fight for a better humanity. Remember when each and every disaster happed that man knows about,
American's are always there to help out with rebuilding and humanitarian aid more than everyone else. I America is so bad, why do people beg to come and live here? I haven't heard anyone trying to cross the English or the French border illigaly!

Americans strive for happiness usually, why be like the rest? Americans like their brand of football better than 'soccer' because we like the idea of team effort and unique strategies involved. Soccer is like watching a sail boat race. As far as English goes, even England has different dialects and I have as difficult a time understanding them as you may have with our versions. Lastly, Budweiser is NOT the 'King of Beers', they just spend more on advertising.

I ask myself it too.
But most parts of the world drive in right side of the road, you are beeing British-centred right now. In Latin America and in the countries of Europe people drive in the right side
What I can't understand is why they refuse to use the metric system. Their measure system is ridiculous and hilarious.

It's because they are pro-indpendant and they want to spread independance around so they disagree with the rest of the world.
