No, but implantation can cause mild spotting which wouldn't even require a pad or tampon.

A true period is a result of the egg failing to fertilize. When implantaion occurs the egg attaches itself to the endometrium. If you shed your endometrium during your period, you shed any pregnancy along with it. This happens sometimes when women do not have a long enough luteal phase-which must be at least 10 days to sustain a pregnancy.

The luteal phase is the time between ovulation and menstruation. It takes 6-12 days for implantation process to complete and then another couple of days for the embryo to send a messege to the brain not to menstruate. The short luteal phase is a common and treatable fertility problem.

To answer your question more simply-no you can not have a period and have successful pregnancy implantation.

P.S. People who say you can have a period during pregnancy are misinformed. It is not called a period, it is called pregnancy associated bleeding which if heavy, in many (but not all) cases is a sign of miscarriage. A period is menstruation caused by a hormonal reaction to lack of implantation of a fertilized egg. That is a fact.

If you're bleeding during the implantation process, it probably is "implantation bleeding", which is LIKE your period but lighter and not as long. This is most definitely a sign of pregnancy. However, to have a FULL period during the implantation process is rare, but it does, in fact, happen. Best of luck.
