I didn't even get the problems! is there anyone who can answer and explain?

A field of flowers is surveyed and found to contain 700 purple flowers and 300 white flowers.

1. Knowing that purple is dominant to white, what is the frequency of the white allele in the population?
A. 0.7
B. 0.3
C. 0.55
D. 0.09

2. What proportion of the population is heterozygous?
A. 0.21
B. 0.021
C. 0.049
D. 0.5

3. How many Purple alleles are in the population?
A. 700
B. 550
C. 500
D. 450
Pheylketonuria (PKU) is the inability to process the amino acid pheynylalanine. Mental retardation can result if left untreated. PKU is caused by a recessive allele. In the US every year, 1 out of every 10,000 babies are born with the condition.

4. What is frequency of the PKU allele (q) in the population?
A.0.0001
B.0.001
C.0.01
D.0.005

5. What is the frequency of heterozygotes in the population?
A.0.0198
B.0.002
C.0.198
D.0.05

I believe that these questions relate to the "Hardy-Weinberg equalibrium" for population genetics.
P(purple/dominant)=700 or .7
q(White/recess.)=300 or .3
P+q= 100% or 1.00
Plug these numbers into the quadratic equation:
P squared + 2Pq + q squared = 1.00
note: the 2Pq represents the hybrib condition

#1 P=.7 , q =.3 Ans. B
#2 2(.7)(.3) = .42 Ans. ????
#3 Ans. A ??
#4 q = .0001 Ans. A
#5 2(.9999)(.0001) = .00019 Ans.A

are you sure this is the entire problem? there seems to be some information left out. from what was given, however, this is what i got:

1. I divided 300 by 700, and it came out to be .42, which is closest to .3, so B seems the most plausible. After all, it cannot be .70 or .55 because it is obviously not the dominant trait and .09 seems much too low.

2. From what they give you, I don't think that you can solve the problem. Obviously all of the white flowers are homozygous, but there is no way to tell how many of the purple ones are homozygous purple and how many are heterzygous for purple. The numbers are not even enough to solve with a cross diagram either, so I'm going to say unsolvable.

3. There have to be at least 700 alleles coding for purple in the population. It was given.

4. If it is 1 in 10,000, then you would divide 1 by 10,000 to get A: .0001

5. This one can be solved with a cross.

Supposing P stands for the dominant allele and p stands for the recessive one...

PpxPp

P p
P PP Pp
p Pp pp <<
2/4 = 50%, but since they are speaking in thousands, that would translate to D: .05

0.5 of them would be EeNn and the different 0.5 would be eenn ........EN.......en en...EeNn...eenn en...EeNn...eenn um i recognize cis and trans ought to do with the Golgi equipment. The cis face is the recieving fringe of the Golgi and the trans face is the delivery fringe of the Golgi..... i do no longer think of that has something to do with what your talking approximately nonetheless
