it is a forced religion. No where do you read in the Bible does it say, REPENT or I will run you through!!! It says to give one self up and live for God! Charity, love and other sacrifices make a person religious and righteous with God. Not forcing one to admit to salvation!

I assume you live in some part of the Americas. Unless the question is why did the Spaniards under muslim occupation keep Christianity until the Reconquista?

The conversion to a new religion is usually simple- once the ruling classes convert, the people follow. Basically the mechanism was that the Aztec priests converted to christianity (and became priests in the Catholic church) so as to retain their priviledges. The people followed the priests simply because they were used to do as they were told. Bear in mind there was not much of "civil rights" in the Aztec empire (or any other for that matter)
Pretty similar mechanism during the Christianisation of Poland- but it took about 200 years.

In accordance to the teachings of the church at that time, the Spanish did live in accordance to Christian values. They were also veterans of an extremely bloody and protracted war with the muslim invaders (the Reconquista of Spain) and also veterans of other wars with islamic invasions- both in Turkey and in Africa. So when considering the speedy "introduction" of a new land to christianity, please also consider that they needed to deny the land to islamic invaders- which they knew would follow.
On the good side- considering that there are no native survivors of the introduction of Islam to north Africa (the tribes living there used were black in the Roman times) - maybe some good occured after all.

It was the only "religion" at the time. The others were invented.
