I'd recommend Greenflag as well. I had to be recovered the other day and they sent a local garage out to me (arrived within 20 minutes of my call). The recovery fella then spent an age telling me how bad the AA are (and he does work for them as well!!).

I'm with Britannia Rescue, they are brilliant! They use a network of local agents so you are less likely to wait ages for someone to come out, and they are very reasonable.
Don't know if it's still the case but some years ago my exs car broke down in Birmingham. As the car had to be towed back to London, the tow truck only took us to a certain point then we had to wait for another one that covered the London area to finish the journey. An hour waiting at a service station at 2am was not fun!

I Don't recommend RAC.

I was with them for a while and every time i have broken down it has taken them 3-4 hours to get to me and its never an actual RAC man its always a contractor. And the last one tried to jump start my car and put the cables on wrong and shorted my stereo.

I have cover with green flag, they offer similar cover to the AA & RAC but cost much less. You can get a quote online too.

I'd recommend Green Flag.

The other providers use something called a Relay service, which means that if you were to breakdown, you would be picked up by different drivers and dropped off, all the way home. This would prolong your journey and you could be left waiting around for the next driver to collect you.

It used to be that AA will cover you for any vehicle you are travelling in as where RAC cover your vehicle only xxxx

I disagree with Starlet10....the RAC do cover you and not the car....I found them cheaper because the level they advertise for 39 quid is recovery only.
