Transgendered refers to someone who has had a sex change, or has gone so far in the process to live in the transition of physically living as their sexual identity as they feel on the inside.
Someone who believes they are the opposite sex of what they were assigned at birth, are still considered to be in a state of gender dysphoria until they make progress in that transformation.
However, I do not deny what you feel is real and deserves to be fully understood. It is just a matter of defining which part of the process you are in.

Actually, gramatically speaking, it is either. As an adjective it falls under the same rules as things like 'brown haired' - you are not brown hair, you are brown haired, and long legged - you are not long leg, you are long legged.
Even the dictionary defines it as an interchangeable, but correctly spelled word.
AHA! I found a link for the tenses of an adjective, follow the second link and it should help you out.

Yeah, never thought of this before, but you have a point. That would make me Lesbianed. LOL It could be worse, our section could be called "Lesbianed, Gayed, Bisexualed and Transgendered". :) And we could be Yahooed.

You might hurt their feelings if you tell them they've erred.
(God forbid, what were you thinking???)
