Quick Fact: The USA is a Constitution-based Federal Republic.
I believe that a government should (almost) never manipulate the truth, unless the lives of millions are at stake. Then I don't want to know till it's over. If you manipulate the truth, which IS lying, no matter what the government tells themselves, you have the possibility of losing the trust of those who gave you the job, if they find out.
If you lead a country well, and have the trust of the nation, if you make a mistake, you need to own up to it. If it was a well-intended mistake, the people might forgive you (either immediately or over time), or they may choose to remove you. On the other hand, if you lie to the people, and you get caught, chances are you'll get punished.
Not only would you get punished, and loose any trust you've gained from the people, but you may cause a ripple effect in which the people generally become distrustful of their current elected government. This can span from a party loosing an election, to a drop of active voters, all the way to a government overthrow. When you're in such a powerful condition, anything you do can cause a ripple effect.
And of course, in my use of the directional word "you", I would be referring to any President or Congressman, or any other elected official who finds themselves in this predicament.

Truth is manipulated by the rich and powerful primarily because America is a democracy. When the people know the truth, they can govern themselves in their own best interest. When the People's interests are not aligned with the interests of the rich and powerful, deceit is used to mislead the people into acting against their own interest.
Write your Senator or Congress"man" and demand open government so that WE the PEOPLE can retain control of our system of government.

Yes, it is the strongest Democracy in the world. No where else do people have a much freedom as here. Look at the muslim women who could not even go to school. Even though there husbands do not have to cover their faces, they do. Look at the poor people in Africa, who have no freedom. Even though slavery was wrong, it did result eventually in opportunities for those who went through the hell of slavery. They are much better off than their cousins in Africa.
Yes their are liars in Democracies. But there are liars all over the world. The muslims in particular, lie about nearly everything. The extremists have a plan to first call all the jews and then the christians. There will be one nation in the world. If you don't want to be muslim, you are killed. It is already happening in the middle East. Wake up, our freedoms are being taken away by the radicals amoung us. We likely will have to fight to get them back. I will protect my loved ones, my freedom and my rights with my death, so back off you idiots of the world, I will protect mine to my death so my children can live a life without all the limiatations that crooks at home and in the world have taken from me already. I now have to lock my doors to keep criminals out, but I can go out and drive and go to church if I want to. I can start a business. I can travel to Yellowstone. I can do so many things that other countries do not allow without permission. Yes I will fight to the death to keep it.

It certainly has evolved into this as time goes on the consitution and the bill of rights designed by the founding fathers to limit governemnt and to protect the citizens is eroded!
We do not have the right to force what we believe to be a better way of life upon anyone! We are not the world's cop nor the world's court

america do have democracy in everything EXCEPT when it comes to the blind total support of the terrorist israeli state,in this case democracy stops,and dictatorship & terrorism starts.
