I think most people consider themselves good listeners, the reality is that most of us aren't!!

Yes I consider myself to be one of the best. My career consisted of listening to victim's of domestic violence. I absolutely loved my job. There was a time when I was in the wrong profession, that I thought not liking my job was normal. The job I loved was listening to the victim's of domestic violence. . . men, women and children and referring them to resources that were available to them. The part I loved was helping them by listening. I'm calm and kind . I'm not judgmental and care very much about helping people. I do have exceptions when I have to deal with self centered people. No one can listen for long to a person that feels life is all about them. I have a pet name for them. Me Me. They remind me of Toby Keith's song, I Wanna Talk About Me".
Of course when your a good listener, you always try to fix everything and give advice, sometimes when It's not wanted. I do get teased about trying to solve every ones problem. When my kids want to bend my ear a little they always say,"Mom how about a Pow Pow. and I listen. Hope I didn't tell you more than you wanted to know.

Yes I do... I like to listen to my friends and help them out if there's a problem or just be a sounding board for them if they need to get something off their chest. Nice to know we can all help our friends just by listening.

I would say I am. If someone wants to talk/confide in me, they are welcome to. If they just want me listen and not give advice, I will shut up and let them talk. If they ask my opinion/advice I am happy to give it. I dont expect them to act upon my thoughts/opinions/advice but at least they have a second opinion. If someone asks me to help them get out of a problem then I will do what I can. If were all there for each other, things wont get on top of us.

It depends. If you are interested of what the person is explaining or talking to you, then, you are interested on the topic and listen to it carefully.
