♡Yes, it depends. Check the MOFA site.
It lists details of which countries have "Visa exemption arrangements" with Japan:
Scroll down to- "List of Countries and Regions That Have Visa Exemption Arrangements with Japan"
http://www.mofa.go.jp/j_info/visit/visa/02.html#a
You will find out how long tourists can stay in Japan depending on their country.
~You didn't mention your nationality, so... take a look at the list.
Be sure to check that carefully.
Read all the details so that you have a trouble free visit to Japan.
If you are from the USA, American, you can visit Japan for up to 90 days without a visa. If you plan to work or study... you must have the proper visa first!
Hope this helps!♡

It depends on Japan's relation with that particular country.
I know that American citizens don't need a visa to coem to Japan as a tourist for( what used to be 90 days).
If you are there on business, the naturally you will need a work visa.
Consult with the Japanese embassy for more detail, or you can call them and ask.

If you enter Tokyo from other country then you need passport. If you enter Tokyo from other Japanese cities, of course no need.

Depends on where you are from, but for most places, you don't need a tourist visa.
