Call your local chemist. He or she can tell you about that fairly quick I should think. That's what I do when I have problem with medication.

I don't really think it can cause spotting. I have had BV since I was like 12, and no it isn't always related to sexual contact. I didn't have intercourse or any sexual contact until I was 19. I have had 2 kids and this is my 3rd pregnancy and I've never had spotting. I took medication for BV when I was about 21. The odor/light discharge went away for about 6 months then came back and I never bothered with medication again until about 2 months ago. I take the Metro gel vaginal stuff and it works for about 3 weeks, then the odor comes back, but my doctor said these type of infections are hard to combat while pregnant. In fact, I'm on the medication AGAIN for the second time this pregnancy. Honestly, I would talk to your doctor about it. I do have a friend that had BV while pregnant and it caused her to have preterm contractions, but it's never affected me at all. Good luck.

Hi, i understand your problem, i had this dreaded infection for almost 3 years. I'd say you will probably be ok drinking afterwards but just don't overdo it if you can help it. Maybe try drink a glass of water in between each alcoholic drink. Drinking water will help flush the infection anyway.
One more thing, BV can actually be passed from one female to another (not from male to female though i don't think but yes it is an STD as well but can also get it from the bad bacteria in the rectum passing to the vagina), i have actually experienced this so if your in a female relationship at all then i'd suggest you both taking a course of anti-biotics (as i found this was my problem and then i'd gotten rid of BV once and for all). If this is not your case then there are many other things to try, wearing only cotton underwear, drink plenty of water, take acidophilus suppliments or the drinks that contain live yoghurt or take in tablet form from herbalists shop. One other thing i didnt try but is supposed to help the friendly bacteria in the womans vagina stay healthy is to use live yoghurt......if u get my meaning??

i i would say yes have a drink but dont drink fast and stop if you start to feel ill. Bacterial vaginosis is NOT a sexually transmitted infection. If it does however keep reoccuring do get your partner to get checked he may just keep giving it back to you, also it can be caused by douching, feminine washes, non-cotton underwear. It is just a bacteria that in certain conditions (warm, moist environment) multiplys and causes you symptoms.

its only treatment but not prevention.
Treatment for bacterial vaginosis consists of antibiotics. A few antibiotics are routinely used. Metronidazole taken by either oral (pill) form or by vaginal metronidazole gel is an effective treatment. Also available is the vaginal clindamycin cream. The oral metronidazole can cause some minor but unpleasant side effects, but is believed to be the most effective treatment. Metronidazole is not used in early pregnancy because of potential adverse effects on the babies. Metronidazole is not used by nursing mothers because of potential adverse effects on the babies. The gels do not typically cause side effects, although yeast vaginitis can result. Although treatment is generally successful, about 15% of women experience recurrent symptoms within a month. With recurrent symptoms, a second course of antibiotics is generally given.

I've been writing on nutrition and health for 30 years. You might like to read up on gut dysbiosis - often associated with vaginitis. See: http://www.foodforthought.org.uk/what_happened_5.htm. Also - a very effective treatment is to soak a tampon in natural yoghurt - insert it into the vagina and leave overnight. Repeat until the condition clears up (usually only 2 - 3 days)
