Just saw info on TV - Switzerland saw a 10% drop in crime when they decided to make heroin free.
In UK, 8 out of 10 burglaries are caused by junkies.
I think the drug, evil as it is, should be made free. Prohibition never worked and the crime still continues.

Free drugs DO keep the junkies out of our homes and our lives but what about the junkies? They need help with rehab not more drugs. There a remedial drugs they can be given that will help them with withdrawal. Society owes it to those with a drug problem to help them regain their normal life not to keep them sedated and harmless.

This is absurd. Unless they are confined to their homes with their free heroin and not allowed visitors, it will no doubt cause even more problems. If the government can get enough people hooked on heroin, give them their fix, they will win more votes!
The junkies will get it for free, cut it with something else (probably dangerous) to spread it out, then sell it on. Then the country has even more junkies to care for. What happens when they need to eat and have spent all their benefit money? Do what they do best, just rob!
This has got to be more crazy than giving junkies £4000 for kicking their habit (on TV last week). Either put them on an island and give them all the drugs they want to keep them away from society, or for their first "free" hit, put something in to kill them. The country should be getting tougher on drugs. The law is already too liberal towards criminals.
Society owes these low life, criminal sponges nothing. They already eat away our taxes, now we are expected to fund their habit?

then who will pay for it us the tax payers we need more drug prevention programs though the experiment seems to work in Switzerland it was only done with a small part of the heroin addicted people if they give it to everyone then what and that opens the door for those who just want a free high to start get addicted and then get it free all the while we will be paying for it
