don't get bored! that's already a dangerous symptom... btw the internet is a dangerous place to talk to strangers.
let's look at an alternative here... it'll take a bit of work but i swear that the fun will outdo the hassle, it'll be so worth it.
1. clean out your house. get a feather duster to dust of the surfaces. buy a bunch of cute plastic boxes from K Mart to shove the clutter in. wash the dishes. shine the sink. vaccuum. if your house is under an avalanche, don't force yourself to get it all cleaned out all at once. do 15-minute shifts then change jobs. then after 3x15 mins, reward yourself with a cup of coffee and read a good book or do whatever else is fun.
2. buy some coloured paper, stamps, and stencils, or cutouts, then spread some cute invitations around your neighbourhood. for example,
dear neighbour,
come along for a fun afternoon of new friends, music, and nibbles!
what: jeannie's housewarming party
where: 19 maple street 2nd floor H209
when: tuesday afternoon 5 PM onwards
RSVP: jeannie patterson, 555 4172
it won't be fun without you. see you there!
3. do your homework: get your house ready for the party. keep it simple and easy. buy punch and cookies, or chips and dips. get a stack of plastic cutlery and tablecloth so you don't need to wash up afterwards. you can even ask people coming to your house to bring finger food--it's not inconvenient for them and it saves you some work.
think of some fun icebreaker games. try "honey i love you"... you stand in a circle, walk up to someone you don't know, look them in the eye and say "honey i love you will you please give me a smile" and the other person must be able to say "honey i love you too but i'm too tired to give you a smile" without cracking up. take turns.
you may wanna buy a guestbook for your guests to leave comments on, then you can follow them up and make meaningful friendships. take interest in each guests--ask them where they work, what their hobbies are, what their family is like--you're bound to find some people you like and get hooked on a new hobby or a thriving venture.
4. WHY ARE YOU STILL READING THIS, GET OFF YOUR BUTT AND DO SOMETHING!
