I have a baby who is almost 5 months old and she seems to be interested in more then her bottle of formula. She sometimes chews on her bottle nipple even at the times when she is hungry. She even gawks at me and my wife when were eating dinner. She has not yet cut her first tooth. She is currently on Enfamil A.R. and eats 6 oz every 2 1/2 hours. She sleeps 8-10 hours a night, I also want to know besides the signs of when to start solids how much and how often to feed her solids throughout the day? Thanks for your advice.

I wanted to know what signs to look for from parents experiences before I would ask my pediatrician. I just don't want to jump the gun.

Hello,

If you babies tongue begins to thrust forward. My twins began eating solid at 6 months. They were preemies and had a late start in their eating pattern.

Here, go to Baby Center for more information.

P.S. My hubby and I still feed our twins two bottles a day. One in the AM and PM. I would also talk to your babies doctor.

Hope this helps you................................................... :-)

put a little baby cereal in that formula & make the nipple a little larger. i think u can buy them these days for that. u can also put a little strained fruit in it feed her the same as u do now . if she acts like she's hungry then feed her. it wouldn't hurt her to give her some cereal & fruit in her bottle now. she may sleep longer because her belly won't feel empty as soon. start out with one to two times a day at first to see if she likes it & if it agrees with her. but still burp her to get that air out.

If she can eat a little something and not choke that's fine. Start with things that will dissolve in water...saltines for example. Introduce one food a week. Don't go overboard with all kinds---it will upset their system. Always watch her while she's eating.

please don't be offended, but why are you not asking your pedriatician this question?...I'm sure there are folks here who could give you opinions, but i would definitely ask a ped, since every baby is different..good luck
