It is better for children to be from a broken home than to live in one.

I stayed married for the children. Which was a mistake. Adult children seem to have a harder time than young kids.
Kids can't feel like they are at fault. Even when they are not.

My oldest son had a very hard time. He got real depressed. What happened is that he was raised to believe that marriage was a lifetime commitment. Then his parents disappinted him. Idealogy can make it difficult to deal with divorce.

I have a son who tried repeated suside all notes written to his dad. I feel I shold of left sooner, but then I didn't know the what I know now.

If a bad marriage is causing so much stress that a kid wants to kill himself...then it is time to divorce

I'm not an expert, but it depends on how the divorce is handled by the parents. One of my best friends parents are divorced when she was 7, but her parents remained in contact and it was all handle well they made sure that they explained to her and her brother what was going on and that even though they would continue living with their mum. They would see their dad whenever they wanted to. So I think that it depends on the parents, providing they put the kids first things are work out and the children wouldn't get hurt

People behaving badly in a divorce or in a marriage can harm children.

yes it does however...when i was about 9ish my parents were ALWAYS fighting, everynight and for a kid it really sucks being in that enviroment...the fighting went on for like another 2 years before they finally split and by that time i was releaved because i just wanted them to break up so the fighting would stop...so splitting up can hurt a child but staying in a violent situation is even worse

Divorce is no more harmful than a bitter hateful loveless marriage.

Yes they do harm children. It cause them to have a big scar in their heart. If one does not have a daddy they tend to love people who are of older age as they have lost their father love which belongs to them rightfully

of course it does!!! i know i would because when i was a child, i worshipped my parents... they were so cool and everything--it would be devastating if i knew both of them were separating, because i love them BOTH...
