I dont know what it is but I cannot seem to sleep very well. I was taking anything with dyphahydramine in it which helped slightly. Then I went to the dr who gave me ambien cr and that helps a little more. But I seem to wake up exactly in 4 hours every night. Doesnt matter what time I go to bed, my body clock goes off in 4 hours. I work construction so I should be tired by the end of the day. I get up at 5:30 every morning and try to go to bed around 10:30. But at 2:30-3 I wake up. It is every 4 hours always nothing ever different. With the medicine I am easier to go back to sleep versus not taking it. But it makes me crazy to wake up in the middle of the night atleast 5 out of 7 nights. I have never heard anyone doing this but me. Anyone else have this problem? Even taking sleeping pills and the type of work I do you would think I would be out for the night. Just me and my husband home so no "noises" or kids in the night making it worse. Anyone have this too? What do you do?

I got that too, but i wake up mostly only once or twice. Something that helps alot is too get your endorphin flowing to your brain, usually i eat well before i go to bed, i take a bath. There's also something called "Gravol", it's anti-nausea but i take 2 pills before i go to bed, and it knocks me out for an least 8 hours, ans there's also something called Valerian. Valerian is a plants root, you can get them in pills in a natural health store, or you can get it in tea. So lets say 1 hour before i go to bed i get my favorite food ready, i take "Gravol", then i take a bath while drinking my tea. It's a natural way to get your endorphin to your brain, which makes you feel good and somewhat sleepy. Also you might be one of these people that doesn't need that much sleep at night, you might be sleepy but not tired. If your tired but not sleepy then it's your endorphin that can't get to your brain in the right amount.
(By the way, i'm not sure how the plant roots are spelled it might be Valerianne or Valerianna or Valerian.)

I hav e the same problem thats why I' m up now. I take a pill and get sleepy than I wake every 3-4 hours and at 5:30 or 6:00 I'm completely awake. My husband moved me to a different bed cause I'm up and down all night. I'm tired a lot of the time and can't get done what I need to. I've started staying up till I just about drop and it has helped some. I've jusr decided some people don't sleep as much as others. i've not slept one night without waking up at least 4 times in 7-8 years. So I know that the body can do without 8 hrs. Hope you get better and sorry I had no solutions.

Maybe it's your body's way of saying that you have had enough sleep. Are you tired when you wake up after 4 hours? If not, then you're getting all the sleep that your body needs. Everyone needs a different amount of sleep. If I get 8 hours of sleep, I feel so tired and drained the next day, but I know people who can't function unless they have at least 8 hours of sleep. If you aren't feeling tired the next day and you are still able to function, then your body is telling you that you have slept enough. If it's irritating waking up between 2-3am, try to go to bed later. Hope this helps.

Lots of people go through a stage like this. I reckon we just don't hear that much about it.

I do know that the body temperature tends to drop a bit at normal bedtime and begin to rise at wakeup time. Be certain you are not too warm while sleeping, that could be interupting your normal sleep cycle and making your brain think it is time to wake up. IF you wake up I would not recommend sitting in front of the computer with the bright, one-eyed monster. The bright light is a stimulant to the brain and will keep you awake longer than a good book.

good luck with that.....

Do you wake up as you need to go to the toilet? try drinking less fluids before bedtime.Try cutting down on coffee and alcohol as they can disrupt sleep, also if you take sinus tablets or cold and flu medication that can keep you awake. Take out any electrical items from your bedroom. check if the electric meter is the other side of the wall from your bed if it is move your bed.
I hope this helps
