Your windows operating system must be corrupted, trying doing a system restore or worse comes to worst, reformat and do a reinstallation.

Your question is a bit vague. If its shutting down everytime you download but for no other reason then I would suggest its a virus or malware. You need to examine exactly what is running on your pc. A good indicator of whether your PC is running ok is to press ctrl alt del and look at the processes. Look at the column marked CPU and try and identify whats hogging all the processing time, then google the name and see what others say about it.
Run your anti-virus software and spyware software.

Your PC might be a victim of an internet virus which might have entered in your PC while you were downloading any files or softwares. So dont download any thing from any untrusted sites as they may contain viruses. And please install Tuneup utility 2006 in your PC which is very useful tool for keeping your PC uptodate and also download AVG 7.5 which can be found in http://www.download.com its for free.

check for spyware or virus on your computer using a updated antivirus software
if this doesent work then go for formatting of harddisk

it could be a number of things from a virus to hardware failure ... but if ur running sp2 google "sp2 limit fix" and try an alternate nic card driver ....

sounds like you either have a probelm (re load OS) or its old and out memory and cant cope with more than one task.
