Why are Americans obessessed with the Spanish?? How many Spanish/Latinos are there in the USA??

Why are American people always asking questions about Hispanics, do they regard them as a problem? are there many? which areas are they predominately found? Are their ideals and culture very different to the average American??

Americans are upset because Mexicans sneak across the border and enter the country illegally. They use millions of dollars in our social programs, food stamps, health care and fill our schools with kids who can't speak English. There culture is very different from average Americans. They live in sub-standard housing here and ship the money they earn illegally back to Mexico. Because of them crime has risen up to 30% in some of our cities. The problem is they are here illegally. They need to come in through legal channels or stay in Mexico.

There are millions of Spanish-speakers in this country - newly immigrated people (documented and undocumented), and those of us that are foreign-born but have been here for most of our lives, and our parents (a different generation altogether). The "obsession" is probably due to a major political debate about how they get here, and if more should be allowed to enter.

Ideals and culture in any Spanish-speaking country are MUCH different than the U.S. We are mostly from 3rd world countries where we struggle to put bread on the table and don't have much left over. We come from corrupt governments where there is little justice and people in power make all the money. We stick together - people live with their parents until they marry, and even then, 3 generations live under one roof - because it is really hard to get by on an income of $200 a month (if you're lucky!).

If you take into account that the average american is ugly and obese, then can you blame them if if they are obsessed with the Spanish/ Latinos? The American man is running around with Spanish and Latino babes and the American women is being drilled by Spanish/ Latino men.

hispanics are generally in urban areas and in the south and southwest. legal hispanics are about 18% of the population and the illegals aren't counted. the problem is most americans are not smart enough to learn a second language and super paranoid so everytime someone speaks spanish they automatically think they are saying bad things about them. americans are psycho. americans are also too dumb to realize it is the government that lets corporations hire illegals and there wouldn't be an illegals if there weren't plenty of illegal jobs for them which corporations get plenty of monies frome because they are paid poorly and not taxed. to make up for it they are basically blackmailed into paying large fees to laywers to keep their paper trail going and to the government for this paper and that paper -- none amount to much though. but dumb america blames the individual who comes here trying to make a better life and doesn't see the bigger picture.

Probably because Mexico is the border country and they have nothing else to do but cause controversy and chaos among the different races..i dont understand why the US is so afraid of latino immigrants and not european immigrants..italian immigrants, asian immigrants how about the canadians lol?

Its not latinos in general .its illeagals who dont want to learn the language dont pay taxes and use public benifits paid for by taxes, like schools and hospitals. latinos will soon be the largest population in the us. their culture likes to have many children, a survival tequniche in starving countries, thats a problem when your not in the third world.

Where are you from? Maybe I can find an adequate group to make my point..let's see, in Europe they don't like Gypsies, but they're hardly "immigrants" like we have here. In south America the Guatemalans are a problem, so that's a pretty good comparison I guess. No matter where you go, immigration is a problem. Where do you live that it isn't?

They are a problem because they ar bleeding the system dry.
The come here expecting our country to use their language, respect their culture, an disregard ours.
They expect property pwnership here but refuse foreign ownership of land in mexico.
They expect free food, free medical and free money form taxpayers here and offer nothing in return.
