I found a computer desk a couple of days ago in really good condition ... so I took it home and spray painted it black today to match my other furniture. I put it in my room, set my computer up on it, and threw out my old desk and everything, but now the paint is chipping and scratching off like crazy! Is there anyway to fix this??

Sounds to me like it was "treated" plywood. To make a permanent paint job you'd have to sand back to the original surface, paint it with primer and then repaint.

The options include Epoxy paint, which might require a spray gun -- I don't if they make it as a spray can. Or, check out a product called BarTop, but read the ingredients on the label. If it thins with spirits, prime and paint the plywood with oil-based black paint.

Sure. If you want to make it easier, seal the plywood first with some acrylic paint or clear. This will help you use less spray paint because it won't sink into the wood. Just remember that plywood will bend if it gets wet or you leave it out in the sun. It's not the best thing to paint on as there are some kinds of wood that don't have this issue. Just ask the people that sell the wood. They will be able to recommend the right wood for your needs. The smoother it is, the better it will work for spray paint art or airbrush.

In The first place plywood is very porous, it would take many coats to finish it. I don't think it's plywood like you think.
If you gave it several good coats of paint like you say and it was still "chipping and peeling" then there something wrong. When it's dry, assuming your using water based paint make sure there's no marker, crayola or any grease on the desk then use a good detergent like Dawn to wash it, dry it good then try it again. If you use a enamel base paint, you have to stick with it, you can't use a water base with a enamel base, maybe this is the problem. One will peel over the other.

You put paint on without a proper primer.Or used the wrong paint. A latex will not adhere to an oil based surface.Try an enamel, or a "melamine" finish paint.

cover it up with black wallpaper or the paper they use to line cabinets in kitchens...the paint needs to be removed...and then sanded then primered and then re painted..
