At the moment, I would say Brian Lara, but not by much.

Considering the recent performance of Lara against Pakistan, he can be consider better than Sachin in Test Cricket. However, in One Day Internationls, Lara has not been much successful and Tendulkar is no doubt the best player in One Day Internationals as compared to Lara. If you assess both of them overall, I feel that Sachin is still better as besides holding the records for most centuries in Test Cricket and One Day Internationals and also most runs in One Day Internationals, he is a utility bowler too.

Lara on his day is unstopable but tandulkar is more consistant
